Important to know

It’s very important to remember that newly acquired skins have a trade hold of seven days. At first glance, it’s more of a concert to sellers of items, but this also leads to important safety conclusions that will help users while buying skins from others. Let’s say that you don’t use the offer catalogue and decide to contact someone directly. The person tries to convince you that he or she has an item, but it’s not visible in the Steam inventory. What is more, the person has his item on a different account and will transfer the item only when you initiate the deal or pay something in deposit. This is obviously a red light, as you know that items are held untradeable for seven days and such a scenario isn’t possible.

Trade CS:GO skins

CS:GO can be considered the ancestor of all the first-person shooter games that came before it. While the gameplay of the two-decade-old title hasn’t changed in any significant way, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive did something else to keep up with the times.

In addition to the legendary game play of Counter-Strike, CS:GO also takes advantage of the Steam Marketplace and has a economy of its own, made up of virtual skins priced at various ranges. It’s possible to find items for cents while you can also get them for thousands of dollars, depending on things such as float and rarity.

This economy in CS:GO slowly turned into a mini stock market with users scouting the shop for bargains and flipping skins they buy for higher prices. Trading in CS:GO also turned into a reliable way of using approved CS:GO gambling sites, which use in-game cosmetic items as a way of payment.

Before trading CS:GO skins

Before you start to trade CS:GO skins, there’s a procedure you need to follow that will require you to have a smart phone. You need to download Steam Mobile App and login with your username and password to enable the Steam Guard. The Steam Guard is a mechanism that will generate a five-character security code every 30 second. From the moment of activating Steam Guard you’ll need to type in your current code every time you want to log in. After using this service for the first time, you will have to wait for fifteen days before you can start trading, as you’re held under a market hold. This has been added as an anti-spam and anti-theft system.

How to trade skins in CS:GO

Trading is a core function of CS:GO and many other games on Steam.

  • Open Steam. Both the Steam client and official website of Steam will be enough to do the trick.
  • Hover on your Steam name in between the Community and Chat tabs on the top of the window.
  • Select Friends.
  • Find the person you’d like to trade with and enter their Steam profile.
  • Click on more, which can also be an arrow pointing down on some Steam profiles. It will always be a few inches to the right from their Steam names.
  • Choose “Offer a Trade”.
  • Click and drag the items you wish to trade from both inventories into the trade boxes in the window. If you can’t see any items or skins to begin with, you can reveal them by picking the game they belong to at first.
  • Check the box in the window to confirm the trade contents.
  • To finish off, click on “Make Offer”.

Completing the process will send a trade offer to the user you’d like to trade with, and they will get a chance to observe the trade before accepting it. The trade will automatically go through if the other party accept the terms of the trade.

You can also send trade requests from your “Trade Offers” page as another alternative .

  • Open up your personal Steam profile and click on “Inventory”.
  • Look for a blue button that reads “Trade Offers”, which will be right on the top of the game list, and then click on it.
  • Choose “New Trade Offer”, and you will be prompted to pick who you’d like to make a trade with.
  • After picking the other end of your trade, you will be able to create a trade offer by selecting the items you’d like to exchange.

What are Trading sites?

A CS:GO trading site is a website that lets you trade your current skins for other skins for a slight commission. These trading sites help players in the community who have many low tier skins trade up to a higher tiered skin like an expensive rifle skin or a knife. Also, people who have expensive skins can trade down and get multiple lower tiered skins. Skin trading sites usually take around 5-10% in commission per trade and are a much better option compared to buying over the Steam market or opening cases.

How do I stay safe when using trading websites?

The most important thing you need to keep in mind when using one of the trusted trading sites is to not fall into a common phishing link trap. To prevent this, you need to once again be 100% sure that you are on the correct website and you don’t accept any random friend requests on for example Steam where a person sends you a phishy link.
